Today, I'd like to celebrate the wide variety of quilt styles that our renters quilt here at Quilted Joy. One of the best things about having the rental program is seeing everyone else's quilts - it feeds our creativity and inspires us all here at the studio. Here are a few recently-quilted projects from the rental program. Baby Kisses Quilt Colleen must be the hippest grandmother (as well as one of the fastest piecers) in the galaxy. She brings in tops made from current fabric lines by popular designers such as Elizabeth Hartman and Lori Holt. This top is a version of a design called Baby Kisses by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company. Colleen wanted to keep this quilt soft, so she used the Periwinkle pantograph and white thread. Love it! Baby Kisses Quilt Jacob's Ladder Quilt Rita called this the "Twenty-Year Quilt" because that's how long she's been working on it. Many of the fabrics appear to be Jinny Beyer Palette fabrics. Some of us like to let our tops "marinate" for a few years until we're ready to quilt them - just ask Liz about some of hers! Rita chose the Square Spirals pantograph and a light beige thread to give this top overall texture. We're glad it's ready for use at last - great job, Rita! Square Spiral Pantograph Baby Quilt Melissa and Tracy are friends who came in recently for their rental certification class. Tracy's quilt is the one with the darker pink border and large half-quare triangle blocks, while Melissa's is the one with the lighter pink background and the pinwheel blocks. You may recognize Melissa from her blog, The Polka Dot Chair. Both ladies decided to use the design boards during certification - Tracy used the Orange Peel boards which are very popular, and Melissa used the Hearts and Flowers boards. Don't their quilts look beautiful?Polka Dot Chair baby quilt Stars Quilt Missouri Star Quilt Co Lastly, Valerie and Judy are also friends and quilting buddies. They often rent together and keep the day full of fun as they talk about what they're doing on their respective quilts. Here, both have pieced tops using Jenny Doan designs. Valerie's stars quilt is springy and fresh, and she quilted it using the Funky Flowers design board and white thread. Judy's binding tool French braid quilt is intense in its reds, pinks and purples, so she quilted it with the Feathers design board and purple thread. Both ladies made wonderful quilts! French Braid Quilt We love sharing these quilts with you and have many more coming soon!
