Log Cabin Delight
Isn't Debbie's quilt stunning? Can you believe it was one of the first quilts made by a newbie quilter?
It was a delight to quilt as well. Someday I need to make a log cabin quilt. I've never gotten around to it but they are fascinating.
Each log is about 1.5 inches and there are tons of different fabrics. I find it amazing that my client has this many different fabrics already in her stash. I can recognize a fellow fabricaholic!
The bold color choices actually made the quilting choices on this pretty easy. Over-the-top custom quilting would get lost in all the fabric changes. But the patterns screamed out for feathers.
I decided to do a freehand meandering feather from edge to edge. The feathers flow and dance across the top and bring incredible texture to the overall WOW effect of the quilt.
The top will be entered in the upcoming Kentucky State Fair. If you go- vote for it as your "viewers choice" pick.
I'm sure you can guess that Debbie will be making eye popping quilts for years to come. I can't wait to watch her skills blossom!
