Generous Quilters
Quilters are a generous bunch, and this group of renters is no exception!
Fammie made this lovely blue batik quilt for her son’s Christmas gift. The pattern is made up of squares and rectangles. I like how they aren’t spaced evenly, the piecing and her color choices create a lot of movement throughout the top. We love the Square Spiral pantograph for a man’s quilt. It’s wonderfully gender neutral and even reflects Fammie’s pieces. Can you see the added texture and movement from the quilting? It looks great!
A while back Pat bought several old flimsy’s at a consignment store. Although she didn’t piece this nine patch on point, she is excited to give it to her carpenter friend. The most exciting part of this quilt is the back. Pat is a quilter, dyer, and artist, a true triple threat! She dyed the back of of the quilt in a spiral tie dye with blues, greens, and purples. She’s also a teacher, and will be teaching the Dip, Dye, and Dabble Day Camp here at Quilted Joy on February 11-13, 2016. We still have a few spaces available for the class and we’d love to have you join us! Pat used the Star Dance pantograph and it blends both the front with the back. Great job Pat!
Bill has made several of these LeMoyne star quilts, each with a different theme, and they always look great! This U of L quilt is for a friend who is a big fan of the university. A few of us in the showroom wondered if his friend goes to the home football games because this quilt would be great for those cooler games in the fall. A few months ago I convinced Bill to try a freehand meander on a T-shirt quilt he brought in, and now that’s all he wants to do! Many folks are afraid to take that leap into free motion quilting because they think they’ll mess up or it won’t look as nice as pantograph designs. Once they’re pushed into giving it a try, they’re amazed how simple it is, and how nice it really does look. I also think Bill likes how quickly he can finish a quilt with the meander. He flew through this U of L quilt and another super cute wintery themed LeMoyne star quilt in about 4-5 hours.
