I'm so excited to announce our first guest teacher that is coming to the new APQS Ohio Valley Training Center and Quilted Joy Studios. APQS educator, Beth Schillig, is coming to Louisville on October 11. If you've been to a quilt show in the last few years you've most likely spied Beth demoing the APQS George sit down longarm machine in the APQS booth. She'll be teaching:

Free Motion Boot Camp

Perfect for those looking to explore free motion quilting on their sit down machines and will be taught in the new classroom at the Louisville Quilted Joy Studios. The class will run from 10-4pm and is $80.

Do you have projects that you want to quilt on your home sewing machine? Are you ready to move past straight lines & basic “Stipple Quilting” and move to more exciting patterns and motifs??? Join us for a one day BOOT CAMP! In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, Beth will get you over the fear of Free Motion – you’ll be amazed at what you can do! This is a notebook style class; you will make samples of various freehand quilting stitches and background fillers and start your own reference manual for the future. Bring your own home sewing machine or APQS George and join us for an exciting day!

JEEPERS…… And my Quilting Journey!

This lecture will be Oct 11 from 6:30-8pm at the Louisville Quilted Joy Studios and is $8.

Beth’s quilting journey has been a whirlwind the past 8 years! Through this interesting & entertaining slide show she will share this journey. What started as making quilts for fun has turned into a career of exhibiting at national quilt shows. She will focus on her award winning quilt; JEEPERS….. It’s Jane! which won Viewer’s Choice at the National Quilting Association show in 2009 and went on to Paducah and Houston in 2010. You are sure to be inspired by the many award winning quilts Beth will bring for you to see and touch. Please join us for this fun filled evening!!

So who is Beth Schillig, you ask? Well…

Beth Schillig
APQS Educator and APQS George Groupie

Fabrics, threads and sewing machines have always been a part of Beth’s life. For nearly 25 years she owned a successful Bernina Sewing Machine dealership; Beth’s Creative Stitchery, in Columbus, Ohio. It wasn’t until she sold the business 8 years ago, that her interest in quilting was sparked. And that spark has turned into a whirlwind of a quilting journey! Her extensive sewing background and the thorough trainings she received as a machine dealer are evident in her original quilting creations. Her award winning quilts have been seen at IQA, NQA, AQS, PIQF, MQX and other shows around the country. Beth loves every aspect of creating quilts but feels her true niche is FREEHAND QUILTING on the domestic machine. And she loves to share this enthusiasm in her classes in a very relaxed, fun filled atmosphere. You will no longer feel intimidated about doing freehand work. And once you get started, the possibilities are truly endless!
