Feathers for the Chickens Among Us Class
Are you struggling to quilt feathers; or flat out avoiding them because they’re just too difficult? I have room for a few more chickens for this week’s Feathers for the Chickens Among Us class!
I’ll be teaching this class at the Quilted Joy showroom on Friday May 13, 10:00am-4:00pm.
In this hands on longarm quilting class I’ll teach you how to make the hardest formal feather, then share how to adapt it so you can quilt it simply and easily! Every feather starts with a few simple shapes. We’ll break them down to their basics, and practice drawing them out on paper. When you’re ready, move to your machine – that’s right, no sharing machines! – to start stitching the feathers. Use the basic feather as a jumping off point to create dozens of feather designs. Have you heard the terms: Formal Feathers, Over the Top Feathers, Bump-a Bump Feathers, Hooked Feathers? There are so many different kinds of feathers out there that aren’t hard. In this class we’ll dissect them all! We’ll take a look at a variety of styles so you can pick the kind of feather design YOU like best for your quilt tops.
Students will need a few supplies for this class:
- Tracing Paper
- Grade School Handwriting Paper – you can find this at most office supply and teacher/school supply stores
- Mechanical Pencil
- White Eraser
- Snips
I’m Angela- Co-host of the Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting PBS show. APQS Long arm Dealer and Educator. Triplet Momma. Designer. Thread Bimbo.
