October Renter Roundup
Pat was in earlier this summer to quilt this stunning log cabin quilt. Her family makes quilts to commemorate each wedding and birth in the family. About 20 family members worked on this quilt. Her nephew and his bride selected the center fabric for each block, and the family contributed the rest of the fabrics. Pat quilted this quilt using two freehand designs, a forest in the darker areas and waves and spirals to symbolize water in the light areas. The newlyweds are both National Park rangers in the Northwest, so the tree and river imagery are perfect for them.
Pat is an art therapist and fiber artist and dyes many of her own fabrics and backings. This cotton sateen hand-dyed backing is one of her works. Isn't it gorgeous?
Next up are Carlene and Sharon, who are friends and took their rental certification class together recently. Carlene brought in a panel while Sharon brought a pieced top. Both ladies used pantographs and were excited to have their quilts quilted!
Dianna also did her rental certification recently. She decided after briefly trying out pantos and design boards that she wanted to work from the front of the machine. Quilting freehand is often the fastest way to quilt and she proved that to be correct, finishing TWO quilts during certification!
Next, Terry brought in this top for some freehand quilting. The William Morris fabrics in the blocks were a gift from a friend. The chocolate-colored quilters' linen she selected as a setting fabric sets the colors off beautifully! Terry wanted a nature theme to her project, so she created a wood-grain look with her quilting. She added wavy lines and even remembered to add little "knots" in the quilting too!
Finally, Karen quilted this colorful contemporary quilt. Over the last few years she has been teaching her granddaughter how to sew and now they're making quilts together. This fun quilt is her granddaughter's first quilt! The two of them came in to pick out the thread color - a bold black thread that really stands out - and the Honey Drops pantograph. This quilt was truly a group effort and loving reminder of the time they spent together!
More renters, more gorgeous quilts!
