Debbie is a new grandma and she's been kissing some baby toes for me while I've been working on her Grandmother's Scrappy Stars. I don't know the name of this pattern so if you do, leave a comment. It is a beautiful quilt but it has some issues as most all vintage tops do. There is some fullness in the piecing that is going to require a few tucks. Unfortunately all of that bias edge around the outside makes it more likely that over time, wonkiness will settle in. Now that you've seen the top, guess what made my heart skip a beat? Take a look at the outside edge. See all those triangles? See all those bias edges? See all those inside/outside corners? Yep, I'll be putting binding on everyone of those angles twice. Once for the front and again for the back. I may need a glass of wine for all those corners! :) Debbie really wanted to remain true to her grandmother's artistic vision for this quilt and that meant keeping all angles in tact. The quilting design I chose is simple yet elegant. It emphasizes the circles around the stars and lets the stars be the focal point of the quilt. Debbie is going to love how this one turned out!
