Bonnie's Lone Star is on the Frame, and Debbie's Batik Star is Ready for the Spotlight!
The star itself was made out of a gaggle of fiber types some of which had really stretched out of whack. To say it was a bit of a challenge is an understatement. I ended up having to do a lot more hand work then I originally anticipated and it took MUCH longer than I thought it would. However, her lone star is on the frame and is looking great. She is going to be so excited to see the progress. I am using the Featheration edge to edge pantograph for the quilt with white thread and it looks so dramatic on it. I will be putting a maroon binding on it once it is off the frame. The next quilt I have to show you is Debbie's batik star. This one is luscious! I love the colors, and it is all batiks so you just can't go wrong. :) I used a variegated Rainbows thread by Superior Threads and it matched her fall colors perfectly.
She wanted her quilt done custom; many times I know exactly what I'm going to do on a quilt before I load it. But with Debbie's I loaded it up and waited for it to speak to me. I found a wonderful leaf motif for the outside border and took the scroll detailing from that motif into the radiating lines that come out from the center star. The center star relied on continuous curves and vines that grow out into the star points. Debbie picked her quilt up today and love it. She told me it will hang in her house. I'm sure it will look lovely!
