Using Design boards As a Renter
Let's catch up with the renters a bit, shall we? This time, we'll focus on quilts that were quilted using the design boards. These grooved boards make it very easy to follow a pattern with your quilting, whether you're a complete beginner or more experienced. We have single-block boards and full-width sets in a variety of designs, including some fun feathers!
First, let's talk about Jean's quilt. She brings in the sweetest tops! This throw combines modern and traditional-looking fabrics in a fun color combination. From a distance, the flowers in the sashing look appliqued, but when you look closely you can see that they're actually printed and part of the original fabric. Jean used the heart and flowers design board and selected a light aqua thread to quilt the quilt. Great job, Jean!
Gloria also used the heart and flowers design board when she came in for her rental certification class. The fabrics in her top appear to be mostly from Valentine's-themed fabric collections. She chose a grey thread for her quilting and did a wonderful job on her first longarmed quilt.
Tammie quilted this fence rail top using the meander design board. Fence rail quilts are nice because there are relatively few seam intersections to match up. They're made from strip sets, too, so they go together pretty quickly. Tammie selected a light periwinkle thread that blended well across the light and dark fabrics in her top.
Pam's quilt has waited a while to be quilted. Because of its vintage look, she decided to use white thread and an allover design that was more formal. She selected the butterfly design board, which produces a beautiful, filling feather design. It turned out lovely!
Finally, look at this adorable quilt for Lucas! Dorothy made this quilt for her grandson. We have quite a few customers who use plushy fabrics like minkee or cuddle dot for backing, but she used it for the front. The backing was a super cute hedgehog flannel. Dorothy used the orange peel design board - doesn't it look awesome on the plushy fabric?
See you soon with another renter update!
