Arlene brought in this top recently for me to quilt. I love the choice of fabrics and the setting! Tula Pink's clamshell fabric appears to be the focus fabric that provided the inspiration for the other colors used in the top. The same clamshell fabric is also the backing fabric. If you look at the structure, you will see that it is actually quite simple - plain setting blocks with sashing and half-square triangle units as the cornerstones. Arlene's Cascading Ribbon quilt, quilted by Angela Huffman What makes the design interesting and magical is Arlene's arrangement of the sashing and HSTs so that the colors cascade like a waterfall from the upper right to the lower left. She and her granddaughter worked closely on the placement of colors to achieve this beautiful effect. Using a neutral thread also allowed the top to be the "star".
