What a wonderful trip! This was my seventh appearance on the Fons & Porter Love of Quilting show and every time I walk onto the set I feel the need to pinch myself. I get such a thrill being able to hang out with the crew, and the staff.
This episode I was on with Mary Fons and I just love hanging out with her. You know how you just “click” with some people? Well, that is how I feel when I’m around Mary. I wish I lived closer to her so I could hang out with her over a cup of coffee now and again.
The episode I did is about how to take a traditional piecing pattern like the Cathedral Windows quilt and bend it into a machine quilting motif. I’ve got an APQS Millie on set so I can show the continuous path to take to accomplish the design. Amy Larimer at Blue Goose Quilt Company designed the quilt top I used on set to show off the technique. She used the art of Kandinsky as her inspiration for the quilt top and I went a little wild with my rulers.
I also show ways to spice up the motif and make it easier on the quilter and more forgiving to the piecer. The episode ends with a tip about how to square up wide back fabrics.
This episode should air across the country in the summer. Each market airs the program on a different day/time so just DVR the show and you’ll be sure not to miss it!
In the mean time, my previous episode about edge to edge quilting will finally be airing in the Kentucky area! You can catch it on Monday, April 25 at 11:30am on KET2 and Saturday, May 7 at 11:30 AM on KET.
