Spring is a time of new beginnings, so why not challenge yourself to try something new? This May I will be teaching two classes on custom quilting. These classes are perfect for the confident beginners out there who are comfortable using a longarm machine and are ready to start learning custom quilting techniques as well as the more experienced quilters wanting to flex their custom quilting muscles. In these hands on longarm classes, everyone will have their own machine. That’s right, no sharing! Please note there aren’t many spots available in these classes, and they’re already selling fast! If you’d like to register, do it now so you don’t miss out.

Feathers can be so intimidating but don’t let them make you molt! See how the hardest feather is made and then learn how to adapt it so you can quilt it simply and easily. Have you heard the terms: Formal Feathers, Over the Top Feathers, Bump-a Bump Feathers, Hooked Feathers? There are so many different kinds of feathers out there that aren’t hard. In this class we’ll dissect them all! We’ll take a look at a variety of styles so you can pick the kind of feather design YOU like best for your quilt tops. [hr]
Saturday May 14, 10:00am-4:00pm SOLD OUT!*
OR Saturday May 21, 10:00am-4:00pm
Using the basic paisley shape as a foundation for freehand custom design ideas, we will elevate this common shape into a mini wholecloth accented with unique zentangle inspired designs. We will start the day with drafting/designing/auditioning. You’ll explore how to entertain inspiration and how to drill down to find the right design for the right areas. The paisley is a mainstay of quilting design but in this case we are using it as a container to enhance it with a variety of freehand fillers, filigrees, and other designs that can be used in a variety of ways in your next project. Learn how to dress up the areas in your paisley and stretch your custom quilting muscle with the added benefit of walking away at the end of class with a beautiful personalized sampler that will make you proud as a peacock to show off! This class has everything. Design, improv, hands on stitching, and unique filler designs, all while exploring the classic paisley shape in a zentangle sort of approach.
