Grandbabies Wrapped in Love
Our renters are a generous bunch, so many of the quilts they bring in are for someone else. With these quilts, Donna and Colleen are wrapping their grandbabies with warmth and love!
Donna made this quilt for her great-grandson, who she says has a birthday coming up. His current favorite color is orange, which was alright with Donna because that's her favorite color too. I particularly love her striped border and the way it contains all the movement in the quilt. Would you believe this quilt was Donna's first time on the longarm machine? She did such a great job! To get that perfect swirled effect, Donna used one of our design boards and a stylus attached to the machine. It's a little like driving the machine with training wheels and you always walk away with a great looking quilt!
This fun princess quilt was made by Colleen, who is always working on something for a grandchild, niece, nephew, friend… this list just goes on and on! She and her husband love to travel, and Colleen now has a few favorite quilt and fabric shops across the country. She found these princess fabrics - featuring castles, horses, carriages, sparkly snowflakes and princesses, and so much more - at her favorite quilt shop in Atlanta.
She used the Heart Fancy pantograph, which is always a great design for a little girl's quilt. She also snuck in a fun little surprise, she stitched out her granddaughter's name, "Kinsley," at the bottom of the quilt. What a fun way to make this quilt uniquely hers! Unfortunately for Kinsley, she has to wait for Christmas before she can start using this quilt, but I think she'll cherish this one for years!
Colleen is getting a jump start on her Christmas quilts this year, how about you? With our September rentals sale you can get 15% off your next rental or rental certification class when you schedule your time before Sept. 30, 2015. Click here for more information.
