UPDATE: This class has sold out! I still have room in the showroom for any George owners who would like to bring their machine to the class. I am also trying to get a couple more machines for the Longarm Schoolhouse, if you would like to be added to the waiting list please call at (502) 718-7148. Thank you all so much for all the support!
For many quilters, taking that first step into custom quilting will be the most intimidating part of their quilting journey. It seems like there are so many factors to consider and there are certainly many fears to overcome. When teaching Sculpted Quilting, my goal is to help you get past those first steps so you have the confidence to tackle the next custom quilting project that comes your way.
The first part of the day will be spent drawing, drafting, and designing on top of a pre-marked and enlarged quilt block. We will discuss the many tricks to reading quilt tops and determining what designs will look best in a block. Learn new continuous line designs that will fill in your block without constantly stopping and starting.
After a break for lunch, we’ll move to the machine and begin stitching out our designs. You’ll dive into simple straight line quilting and easy ruler work that will provide the structure needed to carve out spectacular sculpted quilting. This will be a great opportunity to try out new background fillers in addition to rulers and templates and their many applications! Each student will get their own longarm machine, you won’t have to rush through your quilting so that someone else can have their turn on the machine. At the end of the day, you’ll have a beautiful wholecloth sampler to take home! Don’t forget to bring along your phone or camera so you can snap a quick picture of your classmates’s designs.
Sculpted Quilting, a part of the Longarm Schoolhouse, will be taught on Wednesday August 26, 2015 10:00am-4:00pm. This class is great for confident beginners ready to delve into more advanced classes, as well as intermediate quilters looking for refreshers and new design ideas. Because every student gets her own machine, space is very limited and we only have a few spots remaining. Click here for more information and to sign up for the class. The skills taught in this class are also applicable to sit down quilting and if you would like to bring your George we can offer you a $20 discount. Please call Angela at (502) 718-7148 for more info.
