This beautiful cardinal and holly quilt was from a while ago, but I’m just now getting around to posting about it. Each block you see is actually a panel from a focus fabric, there isn’t any appliqué in the quilt.
To bring out that holly and Christmas motif, I used an all over edge-to-edge design that mimicked the holly in the fabric. To really make the stitching pop, I used a gold thread from Glide that looks metallic, but is really a 40 weight poly. Over in the shop we have a Glide thread pack of colors with that metallic shine, but without the metallic thread problems.
