Learn how to use the Tucker Trimmer I to create precise half square triangles, quarter square triangles, combination units, and Shaded Four Patch blocks. Students will explore Deb Tucker’s strip piecing method to eliminate stretching and puckering while building accuracy and confidence with foundational quilt units. This class is a perfect introduction to the Studio 180 Design tool system and includes creative layout possibilities using the Shaded Four Patch block.

Shared Classroom Ruler Option: Don't own a Tucker Trimmer I yet? No problem! You can reserve a shared classroom ruler for just $8. You'll have access to a ruler during class and can apply your rental fee toward the purchase of a Tucker Trimmer I on the day of class if you decide you'd like one of your own. Shared rulers are available in limited quantities and will be used by multiple students throughout the class.
Basic Sewing Supplies
- Sewing Machine with power cords and manual (just in case)
- Thread
- Machine needles
- Snips or trimming scissors
- Seam ripper
Basic Quilting Supplies
- Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
- Marking Pencil (mechanical will do)
- Small cutting mat
- Straight edge ruler approx. 6" x 12" or so
- Invisigrip (Optional)
- Best Press or light starch (Optional)
Pre-Cutting Instructions
- Fabrics are denoted with an A or B to indicate that this should be different fabric colors.
- Strips are cut on the width of the fabric or wof based on 40” of usable fabric
- Cutting will provide you with plenty of practice material for the purpose of class participation.
