How to Sew Quilt Fairy Dreams Block 5 with Beginner Piecing or Mitered Corners

Block 5 of our Quilt Fairy Dreams Block of the Month has arrived, and it’s a true “choose your own adventure” project. Angela walks you through two ways to piece this month’s block: an easy beginner-friendly method and a more advanced version with mitered corners for those ready to stretch their skills. She pieces the block on a Juki TL-2010Q sewing machine, sharing tips for perfect square-in-a-square centers along with pressing, trimming, and alignment techniques for a flawless finish. Whether you are new to quilting or ready for a challenge, this month’s block offers plenty of techniques and inspiration to keep your skills growing.

Piecing on the Juki TL-2010Q

This month’s block was pieced on the Juki TL-2010Q, a straight-stitch-only machine that offers smooth, precise stitching. With adjustable stitch length, built-in thread cutter, speed control from turtle to rabbit, and a large throat space with an extended table, it’s a favorite for both piecing and quilting. The drop feed dogs make it easy to switch to free-motion work, while the quarter-inch foot and diagonal seam tape help keep seams accurate from start to finish.
