Can you guess Karee's grandson's favorite sport?? Karee made this soccer jersey quilt for her grandson. Quilter Angela Huffman added a simple meander to finish the quilting. - QuiltedJoy.com This was Karee's fourth Christmas present she brought me to quilt, and it was probably the biggest. In fact, we had a some folks in the shop while getting these pictures wondering what kind of bed this quilt would go on. For those of you scratching your heads too, it's a twin extra long which is the typical mattress size for college dorm rooms. This makes us think Karee's grandson is either already a college student or will be soon. I always enjoy seeing all the different shirts on t-shirt quilts and getting a feel for who this person is and what they love to do. This one was particularly fun because my own kiddos are soccer players as well. I'm also always intrigued by the different ways folks will piece together their t-shirt quilts. There are so many opportunities for creativity in the piecing. To help fill in the gaps, Karee added coordinating fabrics. Some are simple strips and squares, others are recognizable blocks like half square triangles. Karee made this soccer jersey quilt for her grandson. This way when I'm quilting I can keep a close eye on what's happening under the needle. I can easily avoid finicky spots in the fabric or screen prints or any fun tokens that the piecer might have added to the quilt top. I'm sure Karee's grandson was thrilled to find this under the Christmas tree and he'll cherish this for many years! Karee made this soccer jersey quilt for her grandson.
