Renter Roundup!
It's time to check in with the renters again - what have they been up to?
Jean recently quilted this cute Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam quilt. It began as a panel that she cut apart and set with sashing and borders. She quilted it with a pantograph called Heart Fancy which captures the sweet love of these perennial characters perfectly. Aren't they adorable?
Pam brought her "A game" when she came to rent and quilted two quilts in one day! Her first quilt, a Storm at Sea in varying shades of orange, called for some curving quilting lines to soften all those angles. She used the Continuous Spirals design board and it looks awesome! Pam's second quilt is composed entirely of half square triangle units. The colors flow from warm to cool as they travel from corner to corner. Pam uses zippers to load her quilts on the longarm machine faster - great idea!
Donna chose the Bountiful Feathers design boards to quilt her quilt. This pattern is called Double Square Star and is quick and fun to piece using precuts. She pieced this quilt using traditional colors very reminiscent of Moda Kansas Troubles. The densely feathered pattern of this design board, coupled with the accuracy of using the stylus, contributes to the traditional appearance of the quilt.
Finally, Julie is one of our newest renters. She recently completed rental certification and quilted this T-shirt quilt during her class. She used a meander, working from the front of the machine. When you're quilting a T-shirt quilt, you want it to be nice and soft and cuddly, so open quilting designs like the meander work really well. If you know that there are areas such as rubbery paint or thick fabrics through which you don't wish to quilt, quilting from the front of the machine is the best option so you can work around these. Look at all those different T-shirts - someone was very athletic and very busy!
