Marta's Pickup Sticks
Strip Quilts are a great way to use up some of your fabric stash. In fact, I have a whole basket of strips of all sizes and making a quilt like this is on my "to-do" list if I can ever find the time to actually quilt for myself. :)
Marta made this one out of beautiful fabrics for a young lady in her life.
She decided that since our city's symbol is the Fleur De Lis, we'd use the Funky Fleur de Lis pantograph. It is feminine without and modern. It works great for college age young women to remind them of their home city when they are off chasing their dreams.
Don't you love the way a pantograph adds texture to a quilt?
Marta embroidered the label right on the quilt top too. It is so important to label your quilts. I wanted you to see that even with the embroidery, the quilting didn't impede it in any way. I stitched right over it but because the embroidery wasn't thick, the quilting just melts over the top of it.
