From Mother, With Love: Lois Made This Quilt for Her Son
Sometimes it is hard to pull off a super masculine quilt with ease. Well, Lois did it with this great king sized quilt for her son, Ty.
Can you see how the block looked makes the letter T? Isn't that a perfect choice for her son Ty? I love how the tessellations of the pattern give the eye some activity as you look at the top a bit more.
She chose to put an edge to edge pattern with a leaf curl motif. This pantograph really works nicely with the color way she chose in the top. The thread color is mocha and it really pops on the backing. Sometimes that scares people because the quilt almost reversible. Of course, as a machine quilter, I love being able to see the quilting!
I do want to mention the batting Lois used on this quilt. It was a bamboo batt and I'm not sure who the manufacturer is, but it was incredibly linty. It quilts up nicely but it makes my eyes itch and Lois shared with me that it makes her sneeze. So, my caution tip would be to pay attention to how your body reacts when you come up against this fiber. It is a newer fiber in our culture and I am not normally an allergic person but this fiber certainly makes me itchy. So be cautious when you try the new bamboo batt.
