Linda's Hankie Lady Obsession Months: October-December
Here are the last 3 months in Linda's Hanky Lady Obsession quilt. Keep in mind that every hankie in this quilt come from Linda's relatives over the years. Some are even her dad's handkerchiefs!
Let's look at October. Can you see her dad's handkerchief? It is the ghost! Isn't that clever! I wonder where she found the silver jack o'lantern. It is a perfect compliment to the colors in the block. An orange pumpkin wouldn't have worked. Don't you love the bat too? Here's November. Linda used a man's handkerchief as the apron she is wearing with her perfectly cooked turkey. I really love the net her lady has in her hair. There is also a 3D green ribbon on her hat. So many fantastic details! Linda used the book Bonnet Girls: Patterns of the Past for her inspiration, but drafted her own hankie ladies to represent her own style. Click on the link to see this book for yourself. December has so many wonderful details. The perfect circles make wonderful ornaments. The little girl holding her baby doll has a golden braid hanging off her head as she looks up with wonder at the tree.
Finally, here are some other detail shots of the quilting you might enjoy. As I quilted this top I felt like I was getting to know each lady and discovering the tiny details each one holds that makes them come to life. I love quilting for others. I know I would never do an applique quilt that is this intense, but I get to enjoy them while they are on my frame.
