Linda's Handkerchief Quilt with Curved Crosshatching & Karen's Madeira Heart Quilt

I'm working on Linda's Hankerchief quilt today. Each block is set on point and features one of her mother's many hankerchiefs. It has such a delicate essence about it. I really want to bring each of the blocks alive. I chose to do curved cross hatching behind her butterfly hankerchief. Doesn't it add great movement to her butterfly? Inside the butterfly I did some feathers.
Karen was one of my very first quilting teachers and I'm getting such a kick out of working with her to make this top sing. She is, hands down, one of the best quilting teachers I've had so this is a special thrill for me. She'll be teaching this pattern in January at The Smocking Shop in Louisville. It is called Madeira Heart Quilt and she'll teach it on January 27. If you can, take the class! She showed me her super secret and oh-so-easy technique to make these hearts. You'd love it! I've even discovered that one of my quilting students will be taking this class from her in January.
Sing along please: "It's a small world, after all!"
