Jelly Roll Race Quilt by Misty
The Jelly Roll in this race
I tried to figure out what line of fabric this was, but had little luck. It is super cute with leaves, feathers, arrows, and trees as well as geometric shapes like triangles and hexagons. The colors are bright and vibrant shades of red, turquoise, and greens with dark gray and white to balance it all out.
She chose to keep similar strips together in the Jelly Roll Race to create a striped effect across the quilt. The resulting stripes and fields remind me of the American flag. Can you see it, too, or is it just me? :)
Quilting this jelly roll race
I quilted this jelly roll race with an edge to edge design called Square Spiral. This design is a classic that looks great on any number of quilt tops. It adds a great texture to a quilt, and sort of echoes the stripes of the top. But because it runs in all directions, as opposed to just vertically or just horizontally, it doesn’t fight against the horizontal stripes or need to line up with seams to look right.
