Fabric Choice Can Really Make a Quilt
The fabric choice of Joanne's Quilt
While the pattern is not overly complicated, it is her fabric choice that makes it so whimsical and fun. She joined a square to a rectangle made of two complimenting fabrics. The square allows you to highlight a fabric with a larger print. Because the long rectangle block is set at odds to itself, the squares standout in a diagonal path.
Joanne found this incredible fabric covered in smiling sea life. I really liked her choices of fabric placement as well. Only the dark blue squares and the outside border are of the large print. The other borders and the rectangles are of fabrics from the same line, but are simpler smaller prints. As a result, you stay focused on those squares. She pieced the backing with another big print from the same line, but this one has a white background.
The Quilting of Joanne's Quilt
Just like her fabric choice, her pattern choice is spot on perfect. She picked Champagne. How is that perfect, you may ask. An easy edge to edge meander, Champagne has several circles in various sizes. They look like little air bubbles.
As a result, it adds enough quilting to cover the quilt evenly without patches of tightness that some designs can have. The overall effect on the quilt is spectacular. What a fun quilt for a bed or just to cuddle with, don’t you think?
