Lyvonn feels like she’s been stuck in a world of neutral fabrics. In her free time she’s been working on quilts for her sons and their families, collaborating with her daughters-in-law to find the right fabrics that will fit their homes. Some how they both wanted creams and whites! This Single Irish Chain quilt is the first she’s finished from beginning to end. She may not care for the color combination, but her quilt looks stunning. Lyvonn enjoys using the design boards because they make it easy to quilt a seemingly difficult pattern.

Renee was working on another t-shirt quilt, this one was a gift for her son. She had planned on using a crimson cuddle dot to match the U of L t-shirts and fabrics in the border, but unfortunately she underestimated how big her top was. Instead we found this great black diagonal dots wide back that worked out just as well! Last time Renee was in we convinced her to free motion quilt a simple meander on her t-shirt quilts, now that’s all she wants to do! The quilt looks great and I’m sure her son loved it.

Maggi was working on two fun Christmasy quilts. This first one she was so excited about that she came in a few days before her rental to pick out her pantograph, Lime Tree, and her thread, Glide’s Military Gold. Military Gold is one of my favorite Glide threads! I’ve included it in my Glide Metallics Pack because it has the sheen of a metallic thread, but none of the hassle. It’s also a fun color for Christmas quilts, because  you can’t have a Christmas quilt without some sparkle! This quilt has a spin on the snowball block with alternating 4 patch blocks. I have to admit, I’m loving the current trend of adding lots of blues to Christmas fabrics. The bright pops of color from the blue really grab your eye!

Her second quilt had one of us in the shop a little jealous. This quilt is the Pomme De Pin pattern from French General’s Joyeux Noel Collection. Liz also bought the kit from Craftsy, but hasn’t found time to start it yet. It’s always great motivation to start a project when you can see the end results in person! Maggi quilted the Kashmir pantograph on this one. It’s a fun floral pattern that nicely pairs with the traditional fabrics in this quilt. It’s also very beginner friendly, which made Maggi very happy. We love to see our customers walking out with big, beautiful smiles on their faces like Maggi!

Vivian brought in this adorable gingerbread man quilt for her longarm rental. I like how each little man is slightly different from the others. Even when I use a cookie cutter my gingerbread men are never exactly alike! Vivian likes simple free motion quilting, so she did a quick all over meander and was finished with this quilt in no time!
