Shelly's Couture quilt, quilted by Angela Huffman
It is so surprising to me how many realistic animal print fabrics are on the market right now. I especially like the alligator prints. They look 3-D! This quilt is made in bright hot colors and framed in black and white prints. It was the feature quilt on the cover of Quilter's World in Feb of this year. Isn't it striking?

Selecting a quilting design that could stand up to such a bold top was a bit of a challenge. In the end I went with an all over, edge-to-edge freehand fern/crescent motif. I used a variegated green/black/white Rainbows thread with Hobbs 80/20 batting. The sheen from the thread balances with the strength of the fabrics.
