Here’s the next row of Linda’s Hankie quilt. Let’s start with July. The red, white and blue striped hankie works nicely on her skirt. I love the metallic stitching she added for the sparkler the little boy is holding. Of course, the American flag waving in her hand is a wonderful touch too.
The August hankie quilt is another favorite of mine. A white hankie makes up her pantaloons. Another hankie is her skirt she is delicately picking up to dip her toe in the water. I used the quilting to add in ripples in the water from her toes. She also has wonderful detailing on her bonnet. It is a lovely floral ruffle.
September shows our hankie lady ready for school. Look at her bustle! Isn’t that awesome? There is also some blue lace eyelet trim along the bottom of the dress.
Linda used the book Bonnet Girls: Patterns of the Past for her inspiration. She tweaked the patterns to give it her own spin. Very cool, eh? If you’d like to see the book, click on the book link below.
I’ve included a closeup of the sashing so you can see how the feathered motif and the finial meet in the corner.
