This ruler is excellent for quilting around applique because it has so many different shapes. While stabilizing your applique you can spin the Lotus Lines Ruler around to whichever side best suits your design. And for those who want a little extra control, there are two needle entrapment zones. One is a more open style where you slide the hopping foot into place, hold the ruler with one and the machine handles with your other hand. The other is a closed style entrapment where you place the ruler over the hopping foot. This locks the foot inside the ruler so you can guide the machine with the ruler.

When Bethanne Nemesh designed the Lotus Lines Applique Aid Ruler ruler she intentionally made it fairly small. It measures about 5.5" x 2.5". It fits nicely in the palm of your hand and doesn't get in the way. She also included registration lines along the straight edge and the long curved edge. This allows you to quickly jump between precision applique quilting and detailed quilting such as crosshatching. Who doesn't love a multi-purpose ruler?

One of the coolest features of the Lotus Lines Applique Aid Ruler is the acrylic it was made from. All of Bethanne Nemesh's rulers are made with a compressed light emitting acrylic. When you look at them straight on they are a nearly clear pale green color. When you look at them from the edges, they glow aquamarine! I love how easy this ruler is to see when you're using it!
