THE POSITION OVERVIEW

The ideal candidate will have experience in sewing machine repair or small motor repair, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to providing high-quality service to our customers. Training on our specific sewing machine repair protocols and procedures is taught and that training is paid.

This person will need to be comfortable with basic computer skills including simple spreadsheets.

You will be our sewing machine repair technician and will be growing our repair department. RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB SUMMARY

  • Diagnose and repair various types of sewing machines, including mechanical, electronic, and computerized models.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, oiling, and adjusting machine components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by customers, both in person and over the phone.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and customer information.
  • Assist with inventory management by tracking parts and supplies needed for repairs and replenishing stock as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sewing machine repair, with a strong understanding of machine mechanics and components would be great but is not required. You will be extensively trained.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a methodical approach to diagnosing and repairing sewing machines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and provide clear technical guidance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and repair techniques as needed.
  • Schedule is dayside.
  • There may be the very occasional bit of travel required to set up some of our larger machines but that is generally within a two hour radius and isn't something that would happen weekly.
  • Work environment is conditioned, supportive and full of the kindest, nicest quilters on the planet.
  • Physical demands: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 45 lbs, and climbing the occasional ladder.
