Create the ultimate comfy handmade pajama pants in this fun and skill-building sewing workshop! In this class, students will learn how to use an existing pair of jeans or pajama pants as a custom pattern to make perfectly sized lounge pants from soft flannel or cozy Minkee fabric. This is a great introduction to garment sewing without the intimidation of commercial patterns.
Students will learn how to:
- Use existing clothing as a simple pattern guide
- Cut and prepare fabric for wearable projects
- Work with soft fabrics like flannel and Minkee
- Assemble garments using sergers for a professional finish
- Create elastic waist pajama bottoms for comfort and fit
- Gain confidence sewing curves, seams, and wearable items
A major focus of this class is learning to use sergers (also called overlock machines), which trim, stitch, and finish seams all at once for soft, durable, ready-to-wear construction. Students will experience how fast and satisfying garment sewing can be while creating a cozy project they’ll actually want to wear at home.
Whether you choose playful flannel prints or ultra-soft Minkee fabric, each pair of pajama bottoms will be uniquely personal and incredibly comfortable. This class is perfect for adventurous beginners and intermediate sewists looking to try garment sewing and serger techniques in a relaxed, creative environment.
