April Renters Roundup

April Renter Round-Up

Phew! Another April has come and gone, and what a ride!  For those who are in the know, April is when Quilters from all over the world will descend on a little town in Kentucky called Paducah to meet at the Convention center and look at pretty quilts!  We may also enjoy some shopping (I spent sooo much money…).  This year we took two whole busloads of friends to come with us.  We had so much fun. These are quilts that came into the shop this month.  And in my opinion, they are just as pretty and unique as the ones we saw at Paducah!

Heather's Heart Fancy

Heather's Quilt

This quilt is from Heather.  I just love all the bright colors.  I also like that it is a sampler quilt made with all the same fabrics.  It’s cohesive and different.  I could see this in so many situations.  She quilted this herself using a pantograph called Heart Fancy.  It was definitely made with plenty of love.

Sharon's Star-Spangled Quilt of Valor

This Quilt of Valor was made by Sharon.  Every time she comes to quilt, her husband will come along with her.  I just love seeing couples doing things together.  They’re so cute!  You can’t see his face, but that is his hand helping to hold up the quilt.   This is scrappy log cabin blocks around a great panel. She quilted it with the IntelliQuilter using a pattern called Star Spangled.  We liked it for this quilt because it was simple.  Long wavy lines with stars regularly throughout did not distract from the panel.  Some lucky veteran is going to be able to curl up in that.

Amy's bright Colored Butterfly

This quilt was done custom by Amy.  She made this for her mother a number of years ago, but never felt quite ready to quilt it until now.  This pattern is the Tula Pink Butterfly!  Isn’t it amazing!  I just love it.  I’m sure her mother will, too.  You can see that she quilted in some lovely big swirls to be the antennae as well as hearts and meandering. Custom can be daunting, or you can just learn to have fun with it like Amy.  Way to go!

Quilting Fun and Friendship

Barbara and Tammy

The next two quilts are from friends that came in to take their Renter Certification Class together.  They were a HOOT!  We laughed a lot and had a lot of fun.  This red, white, and blue quilt is from Barbara.  I think she made this with a fat quarter bundle she had.  What a great pattern for a quick summer quilt!  It is quilted with Turbulance pantograph which is a lot of great swirls against all those straight lines. She did a great job!

Tammy, her friend, brought in this batik quilt.  I love the purple and muted tones in this quilt. She was also certified with this quilt, so for a first quilt, she did amazing. She quilted with a pantograph called Calder.  It is actually one of our easiest pantographs, but you’d never know it looking at it.  I think it really turned out well, and I hope she and her family will enjoy that quilt for years to come.

So there is our April offering.  Maybe not as complicated as the quilts at Paducah, but still very pretty. If you haven’t had a chance to go to a quilt show, try to soon.  Seeing quilts from talented artists can inspire the mind and soothe the soul.  And shopping is always fun.  If you haven’t connected with us on Facebook or Instagram, please do.  We’d love to see what you’ve been working on!
