Have you signed up for classes at MQX Midwest yet? Now that the kiddos have moved into their dorms and are starting classes my mind is a little freer to start prepping for all of my classes. Last week I told you a little about one of the hands on longarm quilting classes I’ll be teaching, the Peacock Paisley Party. Today I thought I’d share one of the other classes I’ll be teaching at MQX this year, the Express Lane to the Modern Quilting Highway!
The Express Lane Modern Quilting Highway is a hands on class where we will make this unique wholecloth quilt with a modern aesthetic! My favorite part of modern quilts is all the open spaces in the piecing that really allow me to play with the quilting. But all that open space can also feel intimidating.
We will learn a variety of ways to tackle wide open spaces while playing with oodles of motifs that work well in contemporary quilts. Every student will receive a large handout of designs that we will work through in class as you complete your own modern wholecloth! Take a look at what some of my students created in the past.
Plus, no sharing of machines- you get your own machine for class. Oh, and I’ll have yummy thread for you to play with too.
Come spend some time in my classroom where we’ll laugh a little and learn a lot. There are a few spaces left so… grab yours now and come play in the modern quilting sandbox with me! MQX is being held in Springfield, IL at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Convention Center on September 27-30, 2017. You can sign up for the Express Lane to the Modern Quilting Highway and all my other MQX classes here.
