As I’m writing this, it’s raining outside which means that quilters are indoors and quilting! Here are some of our recent renters’ quilts…
Polly completed her rental certification class recently, quilting this broken star top. Her placement of light, medium and dark fabrics give the star a three-dimensional look. Polly selected a cranberry Omni thread for her quilting that blended nicely with her fabrics, allowing the design to shine through. She used the Hurricane pantograph to add both texture and motion to the quilt. Remember, when you take our rental certification class, you get to use either a pantograph or design board for your quilting (unless you’d rather do free-motion quilting, which some do!).
Jean is a frequent renter as well as a prolific piecer. Here, she is showing her latest quilt, which she made by placing rectangles in a staggered design, almost like bricks. Don’t the gold diagonal rows look almost like lightning? We loved the bold colors in this throw-sized quilt, which she quilted with the Airborne pantograph.
Connie made this nature-inspired quilt for her new grandson. Her daughter found an idea on Pinterest that seemed perfect, and Connie searched far and wide for just the right fabrics. She selected some wonderful modern wildlife designs depicting moose, deer, bears and birds as well as camping along a creek. For her quilting, Connie chose a design board that juxtaposes large and small spirals – a great texture that calls to mind winds blowing and water flowing in the wilderness. She also incorporated the fabrics from the front into her backing.
Finally, Debi brought in a disappearing nine-patch quilt for her rental certification class. We love the pink accents against the black and white floral- patterned fabrics! She continued the floral theme with her choice of pantograph – Periwinkle. Someone is going to enjoy this beautiful little quilt!
