A few month’s ago I showed you a quilt Imogene brought in for me to quilt, and told you a story too many of us are familiar with. Her daughter-in-law’s mother passed away a few years ago, and while sorting through her things she found a stack of unfinished quilts sitting in a closet. Imogene is a quilter, and she couldn’t just let those tops continue to sit in a closet unfinished. This was the second quilt top of her daughter-in-law’s that was brought to me in secret.
This variation on a log cabin pattern shows how skilled this piecer was. When a quilt comes in with this much piecing and hard work, I find it’s best to choose a nice pantograph that allows the piecer’s work to shine. Imogene chose the Splash of Love pantograph, a wonderful choice that will remind her daughter-in-law of her mother’s love long after her passing.
Imogene brought her daughter-in-law to the shop when she picked up this quilt. They were both so pleased to see this quilt finally finished!
