New Longarmers!

We had two new longarmers in the studio this week, take a look at the quilts Dianna and Shirley finished.

Shirley shows off her completed quiltShirley used a black omni thread for her Asian inspired quilt

Both ladies were using a longarm for the very first time.  Shirley actually found out about Quilted Joy because her son gave her a gift certificate for Christmas.  If I remember him right, he was very sheepish about being in a quilt shop, but Shirley was definitely pleased with her gift!  Shirley was working on an Asian inspired quilt for her sister.  She didn’t want to distract too much from the fabrics in the top, so Shirley chose a black Omni thread that would blend in well.

Dianna shows off her finished quiltDianna used a variegated thread to make her quilting pop

Dianna went in a very different direction.  She wanted a bright and colorful thread that would pair nicely with her colorful quilt.  She thought about using pink, but she fell in love with a Fantastico variegated thread that had every color in her quilt top.  Her choice paid off!  The quilting really stands out in her quilt, even from a distance.  Dianna has been wanting to get into free motion quilting for a while now, but was too afraid to try it; but after finishing her rental certification, she said she’s no longer afraid, and can’t wait to try it again!
