Sarah’s LeMoyne Star turned out great. She used a muted color palatte which gives it some great charm.
I decided to put a swooping continuous curve in the stars to give them some spin.
The sashings were treated as one unit and got sharp, straight diamonds to counter balance the curvy lines of the blocks. I had toyed with treated the outside border as three separate borders but they weren’t big enough to get the feathers in there very well. Instead, I treated the outside border all as one unit too.
You’ll see I did a variation on the feather which is my new favorite way of making feather styles. It reminds me of dandelion leaves or even simitars! What makes it the perfect choice for the border is how it reflects the shape and lines found in each of the star points. It really ties those two design elements together and brings the quilt to a symetrical close.
This is a King sized quilt and it is going to look so beautiful on Sarah’s bed!
